A woman’s hormones can be categorized as fragile since, they go haywire when we are feeling sick, or stressing too much, and even if we maintain a bad diet. They go especially haywire during menopause. The side effects of our hormones getting out of hand can include adult acne, mood swings, random mental breakdowns, brain fog, hot flashes, night sweats and much more. However, with a healthy nutrition plan, women can easily keep their hormones in tune and maintain a mentally and physically healthy life. Consider the following:
- Supplement the right way with Probiotics:
Knowing how to supplement vs. just taking supplements because your friend does is the wrong way to replenish what’s missing in your body as it ages. Probiotics are a case in point, probiotics are excellent to improve digestion, reduce stress and to help with your menopause symptoms. However, taking probiotics alone is not always best. There are 3 raw tonic herbs, namely, elderberry, ashwagandha, and astragalus that are necessary to help you better absorb the probiotics so they work more effectively. Also in a recent discussion with Dr. Petrizello of the Gastro Intestinal Unit of Vidant Hospital in Tarboro, NC, most people stay on probiotics way too long. If you have been taking for years, he says stop, it’s a waste of money. The best time to take, is when you’ve had a stomach issue due to a change in nutrition or taking antibiotics or some other triggering event. Take for a few weeks and then stop. - Collagen:
Not into bone broth, a super food I love, then try collagen. It has amazing. benefits and I can attest that it will help your bones and joints to feel incredible as you age. I’ve been shocked at how much less my joints ache and creak since I’ve been supplementing with collagen. Collagen is very high in protein and is typically found in powder form. It is a product of hydrolyzed collagen peptides which makes them easy to digest as compared to whey protein. If you consume collagen daily, benefits are you eat less and increase your energy levels. It is also very beneficial for your skin as it makes it tight by strengthening the skin cells. You can added it to your tea, coffee, smoothie. Easy peasy.
- Eat Healthy snacks responsibly:
Some people are not big fans of full course meals but, instead, they love to constantly snack. If you are one of those people, then you know how snacking can get out of hand. Eating by snacking always is one sure fire way to pack on the pounds during and after menopause transition. In my approach to helping clients to get healthy, lean and gorgeous, I suggest 3 healthy meals a day and snack only if necessary. I personally don’t snack as a rule. Because, sometimes you just can’t stop. Snacking is hard to get rid of, and the only possible solution to this is to choose healthier and cleaner snacks. So , try to avoid sweets, chips, and other junk foods. You can switch over to healthier granola bars, or detox bars. You can also make a healthier version of trail mix and snack on that. Fruits with a few raw nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts) are also an excellent option for snacks if you are craving something sweet.
- MCT coconut oil:
MCT or Medium Chain Triglycerides coconut oil has steroids in it, which helps increase metabolism and keep your brain healthy. Great for fat loss and improving brain fog. You can add it to your food or your drinks. It will produce quadruple the ketone energy in your body and will also improve your immune system and digestion.
- Golden milk:
The main ingredient of golden milk is turmeric, and that spice is very beneficial for one’s mental and physical health. You can add other herbs like cinnamon, cloves, ghee and vanilla and pink Himalayan sea salt.
The above-mentioned five foods that every woman going through menopause should have in her nutritional arsenal, will help you get on the way to re-balance your hormones and feel better fast.
